WorkSafe ACT in the past year, issued 250 improvement and prohibition notices, 23 infringement notices and $700,000 worth of enforceable undertakings in the past year.Inspectors visited 3,854 workplaces in that time.
They have also successfully prosecuted 2 companies and laid a number of ‘significant’ charges, one for manslaughter following a workplace fatality.
WorkSafe ACT says in terms of activity, the past year has been busier than any previous years.
By the end of May there has been 2248 proactive and 1606 reactive workplace visits by inspectors working to ensure a safe place of work.
Since March this year inspectors have visited 123 workplaces and spoken to 144 apprentices and young workers under the Young Workers and Apprentice Audit.
