A worker was seriously injured during demolition activities on Northbourne Avenue in The ACT.
The man suffered serious leg injuries and required rescuing after being trapped in a machine. Hydraulic rescue tools were used to free the man from the skid-steer loader at the ACT government’s $6.8 million public housing demolition.
The man was taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment, in a stable condition after being freed from the machine.
The project involves the territory government demolishing the decades old former public housing flats.
Workers were prohibited from using the loader by the work safety watchdog.
