Minister for Better Regulation Matt Kean, reminded businesses about the importance of complying with health and safety laws following an incident which resulted in 2 Sydney companies being fined a combined total of more than $200,000.
The fine came after a worker fell more than 2 stories at a construction site in Sydney because there weren’t any safety guards in place.
The man suffered horrific injuries including a fractured leg and ankle and multiple broken ribs.
The minister said the two companies were fined at the Sydney District Court for failing to comply with health and safety laws. He said the incident was completely avoidable and unacceptable.
