A worker at a construction site south of Sydney was trapped in a 15 metre pit and had to be rescued by emergency services personnel. According to reports, construction material collapsed on the man at a Cronulla building site, before midday on Wednesday.
Six paramedics and a doctor worked to stabilise the 38 year old man, with paramedics keeping the worker stable and calm.
He was rushed to St George Hospital for treatment.
Emergency services crews planned and executed what was described as a “difficult vertical extrication process” before lifting the worker from the pit after 2pm.
According to SafeWork NSW, about 1.6 tonnes of reinforcement mesh was being moved by an excavator when it fell on the man. He suffered leg injuries. Source: http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/man-trapped-down-15-metre-pit-on-cronulla-building-site-20171018-gz3994.html
