TradieSafe Project Launched for Construction Sector
A new project for tradies has been launched by SafeWork NSW, called TradieSafe. The initiative aims to reduce the frequency of injuries in the construction sector across the Hunter region.
TradieSafe will be taking place over the next 12 months and will involve safety inspectors visiting construction sites across the region assisting tradies to improve work health and safety.
SafeWork decided to launch the project after a recent survey showed that the top 3 safety risks for workplace injuries are falls from heights from ladders and roofs, slips, trips and falls and cuts.
The Hunter region is no stranger to these incidents with an average of 730 construction workers being injured on average annually. This costs $7.5million in worker’s compensation claims.
