An young apprentice was killed on a construction site in Sydney, having been crushed when scaffolding collapsed.
The 18 year old worker was crushed to death while a co-worker sustained critical injuries in the collapse.
The young formworker initially couldn’t be reached by paramedics, he was pronounced dead a few hours after the structure fell.
The other worker, suffered lower body injuries and was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
The scaffolding tower that collapsed was 15 to 17 metres and left tonnes of steel, concrete and meshing strewn all around the site.
One of the other workers on site reported hearing the trapped men calling for help.
The incident has drawn the anger of the construction union CFMEU who said incidents like this should not occur.
