Employers and workers have been reminded to pay particular attention to health and safety as the temperatures rise across the ACT.
Trade industries and people who work outdoors are at an obvious heightened risk because they are in the sun and the work they do often generates additional heat such as working with heavy equipment in construction.
Greg Jones, Work Safety Commissioner has reminded employers to reconsider how work is scheduled. Workers time in the sun should be limited. They should also be encouraged to take breaks, stay hydrated and look after the safety of their colleagues to ensure nobody falls victim to the heat.
