In 2017 alone 22 Queensland workers lost their lives on the job which is why raising awareness about the tragic circumstances under which workplace fatalities occur is a priority.
The Palaszczuk Goverment has affirmed its commitment to honoring fallen workers with 2 new planned memorials, one an online honor roll and another permanent memorial to constructed by 2019.
The permanent standing memorial will be built in the Roma Street Forum, Industrial Minister Grace Grace announced on Workers’ Memorial Day.
The online honor roll will have the names of those workers who died due to work related incidents or illnesses in the state of Queensland. The online memorial will also feature tributes and personal stories by the loved ones of the fallen workers.
Both memorials will serve as a lasting legacy and tribute to those workers who lost their lives, Ms Grace said.
