Although we have been accustomed to employers monitoring workers via camera, something we’ll need to get used to is drones monitoring workers.
The contractors in charge of the new Sacramento Kings Stadium in California are using this new high tech method to watch over their workers to determine if work is on track or falling behind or what workers need to get work back on schedule.
A number of camera-equipped drones patrol the site and collect footage which are then converted into 3D images. The images run through software from developers at the University of Illinois which compare them to architectural plans and previous images to measure the progress. It helps detect if anything is running behind schedule, ensuring more efficiency and productivity on site.
We will probably being seeing this type of monitoring coming to Australian sites soon.
