WorkSafe New Zealand has urged all businesses and workers to make fatigue management a priority because physical and mental alertness is crucial to safety.
WorkSafe warns that fatigue is not just about being tired, it means being physically and/or mentally exhausted. This can significantly reduce a person’s ability to work effectively and safely.
Fatigue also impacts a person’s productivity and can lead to workplace incidents.
The safety agency provided tips for employers to help them manage risks relating to workplace fatigue and advice for workers to manage their fatigue risks.
