According to media reports, the company rolling out construction of the National Broadband Network and its construction partners, plan to double the workforce involved in the construction.
A $40 million training and recruitment program has been announced and 4500 workers will be trained, boosting the total workforce to 9000.
Additional copper cable jointers, linesworkers, cablers and telco technicians will be added to the existing workforce.
