So far in 2018 there have been 83 workplace fatalities across Australia, according to Safe Work Australia’s latest Notifiable Fatalities Report.
According to figures the Agriculture, forestry & fishing industry has recorded the most workplace fatalities – 26, followed by the transport, postal & warehousing industry with 24 fatalities. The construction industry had the third highest number of fatalities at 14.
Other industries to make the list include the manufacturing industry with 6 fatalities and the mining industry with 5 fatalities. The wholesale industry had 3 fatalities.
Safe Work Australia said more detailed information would become available following investigations by the appropriate authorities. In 2017 there were 187 workplace fatalities across Australia.
