An elderly man fell from a ladder while doing roof work at a friend’s house near Curra, north of Gympie recently.
The man, in his seventies had to be airlifted to hospital by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter after he fell 3 metres.
According to reports, the man lost his footing and fell. He sustained head injuries and was treated on the scene before being airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
He arrived in a stable condition, but he was lucky because even falls from low heights can have serious consequences.
According to Safe Work Australia, falls from ladders accounted for 28 per cent of the falls-related hospital admissions from July 2006 to June 2009.
