A recent article on Sourceable.net discussed some of the technologies that are helping improve safety in the construction industry.
Despite the high risk nature of the industry, advances in technology are helping improve safety.
Some of the technologies mentioned by Tom Karemacher, VP APAC at Procore Technologies in the article include wearables such as halo lights which improve visibility in the dark, exo-wearables which help workers wield power tools more easily, smart helmets and glasses using augmented reality, safety vests which geo-target workers in case of emergency and alert them when they are in a danger zone. These can also help monitor workers’ metabolic rates and health metrics.
