A Katherine man has been killed by an excavator on a worksite in Darwin.
The fatal incident occurred at a heavy equipment rental yard in Berrimah. It is being investigated by NT Police and NT WorkSafe officers.
The man was helping load a hired excavator fitted with a large bucket containing 2 smaller buckets and a ripper onto a flatbed trailer.
Mr Beaumont was standing on the trailer in front of the excavator when one of the smaller buckets dislodged, striking and killing him.
Dwayne Beaumont was recently remembered by his family as someone with “more life to give”. He was a beloved member of the Katherine community.
A series of workplace accidents in the state have prompted a WorkSafe review.
