Following the collapse of 2 buildings in India, east of New Delhi, 9 bodies have been uncovered by rescuers who used cranes, chainsaws and sledgehammers in their operation.
According to reports, one building, a six storey complex under construction collapsed onto an adjacent four storey apartment building.
The owner of the building under construction has been arrested together with his 2 associates. It is believed they will face charges of culpable homicide.
Building collapses are a major concern in the country especially during monsoon season when the heavy rains weaken the foundations of buildings that are poorly built.In 2013 a building collapse in Mumbai claimed the lives of 72 people.
