Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says thuggery from the construction union is partly to blame for the lack of gender diversity in the construction industry.
According to the PM ‘union thuggery’ as he calls it is pushing women out of the sector or at least discouraging them from joining, he was speaking at the launch of an initiative by Master Builders to encourage more women in the industry.
He said ensuring that the rule of law prevailed on construction sites was one we could help boost the number of women in the sector.
The federal government has pledged $250,000 in funding over 12 months as part of a pilot program aimed at improving women’s participation and employment in the building industry.
